The community is invited to participate in discussions with the Vancouver Fire Department, city staff and MacKenzie Architects about the vision and design for the city’s two new fire stations, which are scheduled for construction in 2016.

The first meeting will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bates Center adjacent to Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School. The discussion will be about Fire Station 2, which is being rebuilt at East Norris Road, just south of Fourth Plain Boulevard. The old station is at 400 E. 37th St.

The second meeting will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Vancouver City Hall in the Aspen Room. The discussion will be about Fire Station 1, which is being rebuilt at 2607 Main St., at East Fourth Plain Boulevard in the Uptown Village area. The old station is at 900 W. Evergreen Blvd.

Fire Station 1 will affect the service area for Fruit Valley, Northwest, Lincoln, Carter Park, Hough, Esther Short, Shumway, Arnada and Rose Village neighborhoods.

Fire Station 2 will affect the service area for West Minnehaha, Rose Village, Central Park, Hudson’s Bay, Columbia Way, Maplewood, Fourth Plain Village, Truman, Harney Heights and Bagley Downs neighborhoods.
