Portland police are looking for the man who allegedly robbed a convenience store on Hayden Island early this morning.

Officers with the Portland Police Bureau were called to Plaid Pantry, 1465 N. Hayden Island Drive, at 1:33 a.m. for a reported armed robbery. The store employee told police that a man armed with a knife demanded money. The man left the store without getting any money and said he wanted to be shot by police, the bureau said.

Several police officers and a K-9 searched the area for the suspect, who was described as being in his mid-to-late 20s, 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 160 pounds, with shaggy brown hair and a beard.

His image was captured on surveillance cameras.

Anyone who sees the photographed suspect should call 911. Those with information about the robbery or the suspect should contact Detective Ken Reynolds at 503-823-0407 or kenneth.reynolds@portlandoregon.gov.
