TOPPENISH — Two people were killed and three others injured in a crash early Sunday morning near Meyers Road and State Route 22 and drugs or alcohol are suspected of contributing to the accident, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Angela Walker, 36, of Toppenish, died at the scene of the collision, which was reported about 1:14 a.m. Her passenger, Kyle Walker, 35, of Toppenish, also died at the scene, troopers said in a news release Sunday.

Angela Walker was eastbound on SR 22 in the intersection when, troopers say, a car driven by Leticia Gasca, 19, of Wapato, ran into Walker’s 2014 Chevy Impala, according to a news release.

Gasca was taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Karina Lopez, 21, of Moxee, a passenger in the Nissan Altima, was taken to Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

Yasmin Sepulveda, 22, of Toppenish, a second passenger in the Nissan, was also taken to Regional. The nature of their injuries was not immediately available.

Troopers said the cause is under investigation but indicated in the news release that intoxicants were involved. All parties were wearing seat belts.
