Vancouver — Blue Bird Transfer of Vancouver has closed its doors after more than 80 years in the moving business due to the retirement of its owners.

Company president Wade McLaren and partner Phil Elrod became owners in 1983. They stopped taking orders last month and have sold buildings in preparation for a final closure and sale of the remaining assets this week. The company had been located at 2500 East 5th St.

On its website, the company refers prospective customers to Lile International Companies, a North American Van Lines agent with offices in Vancouver and throughout the metro area.
