Letter: Display space sought for tapestry

The Columbian
Published: July 27, 2015, 5:00pm

The Fort Vancouver Tapestry Project was displayed this month at the Vancouver Community Library. These beautiful tapestries, which include 70 panels created by 57 volunteers from our local community, depict the rich history of Clark County, including the founding of Fort Vancouver, depictions of the World Wars I and II efforts, Fort Vancouver international trade industry, and much more.

Each tapestry shows the care, love and commitment to keeping our community’s history alive.

The tapestries are seeking a permanent home where they can be enjoyed for generations to come. Every time the tapestries are repacked and unpacked, there is a danger of damage that could be irreparable. Every tapestry volunteer believes this rich and vibrant historical display could benefit our community and be a powerful, visual teaching tool for students of all ages.

We need support from our community to make this vision happen. If you would like to help this vision in any way, email Sherry Mowatt, sherry@fortvancouvertapestry.com.
