Portland Winterhawks have signed defenseman Jack Dougherty.

Nashville selected the 19-year-old in the second round of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Dougherty, 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, played college hockey for Wisconsin last season. In his only season of college hockey, Dougherty had two goals and seven assists in 33 games.

Dougherty will attend the U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp from Aug. 1-8, in Lake Placid, N.Y where he will compete for a spot on the team that will take part in the 2016 World Junior Championship.

Winterhawks Paul Bittner, Dominic Turgeon and incoming defenseman Caleb Jones will also attend the camp.

In Portland, Dougherty joins fellow Minnestota-born players Bittner, Blake Heinrich, Keegan Iverson and Blake Heinrich.
