Summer turns to fall beginning Saturday with the arrival of August and the fall management period. That means Buoy 10 opens at the mouth of the Columbia River. Fin-clipped coho are also allowed in the Columbia’s daily bag limit.

And although Buoy 10 opens Saturday, it is often mid-August before catches ramp up.

Angler checks from the Washington (WDFW) and Oregon (ODFW) departments of Fish and Wildlife:

Lower Columbia — Astoria Bridge to Wauna power lines, 64 boaters showed 92 adult summer Chinook and six jack Chinook kept; plus five adult Chinook, 17 jack Chinook, one steelhead, four adult coho and one jack coho released. (ODFW)

• Westport, Ore., to Portland,59 boaters with four adult summer Chinook and two steelhead kept; plus one steelhead released. (ODFW)

• Troutdale, Ore., 37 boaters with two adult summer Chinook and two steelhead kept; plus three steelhead released.

• Cowlitz River, 15 bank anglers at the barrier dam kept three adult spring Chinook and three summer run steelhead. (WDFW)

• Bonneville Pool, eight boat anglers kept one sockeye. (WDFW)

• The Dalles Pool – Three bank anglers and six boat anglers had no catch. (WDFW)

• Woodland, 86 boaters with nine adult chinook and four steelhead kept. (WDFW)

Kalama — 43 bank anglers kept 15 steelhead and two Chinook plus released four steelhead. Twelve boat anglers kept five steelhead. (WDFW)

Drano Lake — Six bank anglers released one Chinook and three steelhead. 67 boat anglers kept one Chinook and 14 steelhead plus released 15 Chinook, 32 steelhead, and three sockeye. (WDFW)
