Two Vancouver credit unions make healthy list

The Columbian
Published:

Two Vancouver credit unions have made a list of the 200 healthiest credit unions in the U.S. compiled by the online banking research firm DepositAccounts.

People’s Community Federal Credit Union was second on the list, and Columbia Credit Union ranked 88th. Both earned A+ rankings based on strong evaluations in all categories including deposit growth, capitalization, and Texas Ratio, a measure of available funds compared to the value of its risky loans.

The report said People’s, with four branches, was Washington’s 31st largest credit union and the 1,031st largest in the U.S. out of 6.555 federally insured credit unions. Columbia was listed as the state’s 10th largest and the nation’s 219th largest. Another Southwest Washington credit union, Longview-based Fibre Federal Credit Union, was listed as the 152nd healthiest in the nation.
