The Clark County Breastfeeding Coalition is hosting the annual Big Latch On this weekend.

The goal of the Big Latch On is to get as many babies as possible latched on and nursing at the same time. The event is designed to promote the normalcy of breast-feeding.

The local Big Latch On event begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday at Esther Short Park in Vancouver. Families should arrive at 10 a.m. to get signed up, settled and ready to latch their children at 10:30 a.m., organizers said.

The event, which launches World Breastfeeding Week, is celebrated in 31 countries and 845 locations around the world. Clark County hosted its first event in 2010.
