The PeaceHealth Kearney Breast Center is debuting its new pink dragon boat at a ceremony this week.

The boat will hit the water for the first time Thursday after a blessing ceremony performed by monks from Chu Lin Zen Temple. The blessing ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Vancouver Lake Regional Park, 6801 N.W. Lower River Road, Vancouver.

The boat was paid for by donors and will be crewed by local breast cancer survivors.

Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt will be at the event, along with breast cancer survivors, community leaders, donors and local dragon boaters.
