Given the critically dangerous fire conditions being experienced in Clark County, recreational fires have been banned in Camas and Washougal until further notice.

This does not affect the use of gas or charcoal grills, provided they are doing so in a safe manner, according to a press release from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department.

“We just want to make sure we are doing everything we can to reduce the risk,” said CWFD Fire Chief Nick Swinhart. “We have pretty unique circumstances this summer because not only is it very hot, but it is also very dry. That is the most concerning part.”

Citizens are asked to call 911 if they observe any recreational fires.
