A month after a body was found in a field near Ridgefield, sheriff’s detectives have still not released any more information on the investigation, including the victim’s identity.
Loggers arriving for work at about 6 a.m. July 1 discovered the body of an adult man in an open field near Northeast 179th Street and 15th Avenue, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives said that it appeared an adult Caucasian man was a victim of homicide. They believe he was killed somewhere else and his body was dumped in the field, about one-half mile from Interstate 5.
Detectives previously said they had tentatively identified the victim, but have not released his name nor any other details surrounding his death.
“To preserve the integrity of our investigation we are not releasing any information at this time,” said Sgt. Kevin Allais, who heads the sheriff’s office Major Crimes Unit. “This is an active investigation and there is not any apparent threat to the community at large.”
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the sheriff’s office at 360-397-6079.
