Gale Beagle’s May 21 letter “Bridge leaders of two states” was most interesting to read. There is solid evidence that Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas, worked hard to kill the Columbia River Crossing project because she was opposed to light rail coming into Vancouver. And as Beagle points out, because of her involvement in killing the Columbia River Crossing, she is now most certainly not the person to try to create a new effort to get a new I-5 bridge.
Remember the line “If you build it, they will come” in the movie “Field of Dreams?” I’m thinking that line, with some slight changing of the wording, could be used to state an opinion about light rail service to Vancouver. What I’m saying is, that if you build it (the light rail line into Vancouver), the people will use it.
So, I think it’s time that the vast number of Clark County residents who would like to have light rail service come to Vancouver get busy and get a “yes” or “no” question on the next ballot about whether the majority of residents want or don’t want light rail service to Vancouver.
