Increasing manufacturing workforce topic of forum

A regional initiative aimed at increasing the number of skilled workers wanting to work in the manufacturing sector is set for Thursday at the Red Lion Hotel on the River-Jantzen Beach.

The Manufacturing Workforce Forum fill offer information on increasing the pipeline of workers into manufacturing careers, supporting the industry’s connection to a qualified recruitment pool, and developing the skills of the manufacturing workforce.

Speakers are Ken Madden, vice president for sales and marketing at Madden Industrial Craftsmen, which has offices in Vancouver and Beaverton, Ore.; Jennifer McNelly, resident of the Manufacturing Institute, a nonprofit affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers; and Jesse Aaronson, senior project manager at Worksystems who works on manufacturing issues for the Columbia-Willamette Workforce Collaborative.

The forum is 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Red Lion, 909 N. Hayden Island Dr., Portland. Registration of $25 includes breakfast and a networking session from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Visit omep.org/lets-join-forces/calendar.
