Vancouver — The Port of Vancouver has hired Ryan Hart as its chief external affairs officer.

Hart, who’s served as district director for U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, since January 2011, will join the port on June 22. He will succeed Theresa Wagner in the position.

As the port’s chief external affairs officer, Hart will “cultivate relationships with people and organizations at every level of government and oversee communications, community outreach, governmental affairs and marketing,” the port said in a news release.

Hart has a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Washington State University, and a master’s degree in organizational development and training from Oregon State University. He’s a member of Metro Sunset Rotary Club and a board member of the Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools.
