BATTLE GROUND — Children and teens ages 1 through 18 can have a free breakfast and lunch this summer through the Simplified Summer Food Program for children. The program, funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, provides meals at no charge Monday through Friday at two Battle Ground sites.

Lunch only will be served at Kiwanis Park, 422 S.W. Second Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 22 through Aug. 14. No lunch will be served July 3.

Breakfast and lunch will be served at Maple Grove K-8 School, 610-B S.W. Eaton Blvd. Breakfast will be served from 10 to 10:30 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday from July 6 through Aug. 14.

Sponsored by Battle Ground Public Schools, the program addresses the need for nutritional meals during summer months when school is not in session. Children do not need to attend the school to participate. All children and teens are welcome. Meals will not be served to adults.
