The head-on crash between a pickup an a minivan that killed three people Saturday night in Skamania County was caused when the pickup crossed the center line on state Highway 14, according to the Washington State Patrol.

WSP released a memo Sunday morning with more details about the fatal crash. The agency reported that at about 8:05 p.m., an eastbound 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by 24-year-old Heath T. Martin of North Bonneville crossed into westbound lanes and struck the minivan head-on. Martin died at the scene, WSP said.

The westbound 2005 Toyota Sienna minivan had five occupants, all from Kent: Anatoliy I. Goy, 47, Mariya P. Goy, 49, and three boys, ages 7, 9 and 11. Anatoliy Goy and the 7-year-old boy died at the scene, according to WSP.

Mariya Goy and the two other boys were taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. Goy was listed in fair condition, according to hospital staff. The boys’ conditions were not available.

Troopers closed the highway near Milepost 33 until about 2 a.m. to investigate what happened.

Skamania County Emergency Medical Services, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office, and Skamania County fire districts 5 and 4 also responded to the crash.
