Letter: Can’t gloss over hypocrisy

I find it incredibly ironic that Clark County Councilor David Madore has chosen, as a vehicle for his election bid, a publication to which he has frequently refused to make public statements.

The “facts” in his flier sounded good, though, especially the ones about saving money. That is if you were not aware of the county job given Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, and the ensuing lawsuit for ignoring a qualified candidate. That cost the taxpayers a quarter of a million dollars in settlement money for the violations of state and federal civil rights laws and county hiring practices. However, I guess he was being honest about “job creation.”

I wonder if the media would consider addressing each of the talking points on the flier that discuss the promises he made, such as fighting the Columbia River Crossing and leaving the county with a continuing traffic nightmare, the fee waiver program, and how he assured funding for eight new deputies.

I found the flier beautifully done but was disappointed that it was published on glossy paper, which I can’t use to line my guinea pig’s cage.
