CAMAS — A flock of rubber ducks — a really, really big flock — will float down the Washougal River on Sunday, July 26, to raise money for Camas-Washougal Rotary service projects and scholarships.

The 21st annual Ducky Derby begins at noon from the Third Avenue Bridge in Camas. A front-loader will dump about 5,000 ducks into the river, with prizes for the adopters of the fastest ducks.

The grand prize is a one-week condo stay in Hawaii. The second place duck’s parent will win a gold bracelet worth $600, courtesy of Michael Nutter Jeweler. There are an additional 50 prizes available.

Ducks can be adopted for $5 each from any local Rotarian. They can also be purchased at the following locations:

• From 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at the Downtown Camas Car Show.

• From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 24, or Saturday, July 25, at the Rotary booth at Camas Days.

• From 7 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 26 at the Lacamas Lake Half Marathon in downtown Camas.

The Ducky Derby is the largest fundraiser for the Rotary club, supporting a number of local projects and funding more than $9,000 in scholarships for local high school students.
