The Gifford Pinchot National Forest on Monday will increase its fire warning level, tightening restrictions for power-saw work on the forest.
The forest’s Industrial Fire Precaution Level will be upgraded from Level I to Level II, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
The change means chain saws may not be used between 1 and 8 p.m. each day. Operators will also be required to keep a one-hour fire watch after any cutting, according to the forest service.
Officials also urged people to completely douse campfires before leaving a camp area.
Though the Gifford Pinchot forest’s fire danger rating is moderate, temperatures are expected to peak near 100 degrees in Southwest Washington this weekend.
