Letter: Personal attack should not be focus

There are often disagreements on major projects. Much has been said, both pro and con, about building an oil terminal at the Port of Vancouver. It seems to me that the port commissioners made a reasonable decision to build the facility based on the role of the commission to develop the port and improve the economy of Vancouver.

I think it is very unfair to attack the commissioners for doing their job and making a reasonable decision from an economic point of view. They should be judged on their total performance and accomplishments, not on this one issue alone.

By all means, people should protest the oil terminal and convey their concerns to the Port of Vancouver commissioners if they feel that the oil terminal or the oil trains are dangerous and a threat to our community.

There have been many accidents since the initial contracts were signed to build the terminal. Revisiting the issue would be prudent. But the focus should be on the issue, not on the commissioners.
