Man who drowned near Lewisville Park ID’d as Portland man

The man who drowned in the East Fork of the Lewis River on Saturday was identified as a Portland resident.

Leumai Tauiliili, 29, was swimming near Lewisville Park in Battle Ground during an outing with his family when he went under water for three to five minutes, according to Clark County Fire & Rescue.

Rescue swimmers pulled him from the water and attempted to resuscitate him, but Tauiliili was pronounced dead at the scene.

He died of accidental drowning, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.
