Clark Athletic Report (week of March 2)

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Record: 21-6 overall, 13-3 NWAC West region (tie for first place, wins No. 1 seed by sweeping Highline).

Last week: Won at South Puget Sound 92-50; defeated Highline 92-81. Hayden Hall scored game-high 32 points in win over SPS, Orlando Vance scored game-high 24 in win over Highline.

This week’s schedule: NWAC Tournament at Kennewick. Clark vs. Treasure Valley, 6 p.m. Saturday. If Clark wins, next game 4 p.m. Sunday vs. Bellevue/Umpqua winner. If Clark loses, 8 p.m. Sunday vs. Bellevue/Umpqua loser. Tournament runs through Tuesday, March 10. (Click here for men’s bracket)

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Record: 15-9 overall, 10-6 NWAC West region (fourth place).

Last week: Won at South Puget Sound 72-63; defeated Highline 69-62. Sophomore Taylor Howlett combined for 57 points in the two victories (27 and 30 points respectively).

This week’s schedule: NWAC Tournament at Kennewick. Clark vs. Walla Walla, 10 a.m. Saturday. If Clark wins, next game noon Sunday vs. Bellevue/Southwestern Oregon winner. If Clark loses, 8 a.m. Sunday vs. Bellevue/SWOCC loser. Tournament runs through Tuesday, March 10. (Click here for women’s bracket)

BASEBALL

This week: Clark is scheduled to play Skagit Valley in doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday at Tigard, Ore. Saturday’s games begin at 6 p.m., Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

Recent results: Clark opened it season with a split against Green River on Saturday, winning 4-1 and losing 6-5 in 10 innings. Only one game was reported for Sunday’s scheduled doubleheader, a Clark 9-7 win in 8 innings over Green River.

SOFTBALL

This week: Clark hosts Shoreline in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Recent results: Clark went 2-2 at the NWAC Preseason Crossover at Richland. Clark beat Treasure Valley 8-3 and Yakima Valley 6-5, and lost to Spokane 5-4 and Wenatchee Valley 10-0. On Monday, Clark was swept in its home opener by Centralia 9-3 and 11-5.
