Two passengers involved in a high-speed crash Friday night remained hospitalized Saturday evening.

The single-vehicle crash occurred just before 9 p.m. Friday on the St. Johns Boulevard onramp to state Highway 500. The driver, 21-year-old Tyler D. Carlson of Washougal, and his three passengers were all taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Dominicc R. Edwards, 19, of Portland remained in serious condition in the intensive care unit at the hospital Saturday evening. Erika D. Doving, 19, of Vancouver was in satisfactory condition. Neither Edwards nor Doving had been wearing a seat belt, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The third passenger, Taylor A. Soule, 18, of Ridgefield, was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon.

Carlson was not listed in the hospital’s public patient directory as of Saturday morning. It’s unclear whether he is still a patient at the hospital.

The wreck occurred when Carlson was driving south on Saint Johns Boulevard in a 2005 Acura RCX and tried to take the westbound onramp to state Highway 500 at a high speed, according to the WSP. Carlson crashed the car into a concrete barrier, according to the WSP.

Carlson is facing vehicular assault charges. Alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, according to the WSP.
