“Star Wars Rebels” continues to offer up gifts for the fans. On Monday’s first-season finale, it reintroduced the beloved character Ahsoka Tano from “The Clone Wars” animated series. Now it’s recruiting a former vampire slayer.
On Tuesday, “Rebels” executive producer Dave Filoni announced that Sarah Michelle Gellar would be joining the voice cast of the Disney XD series in Season 2 in an unidentified recurring role.
Gellar is known to most genre fans as the title character from Joss Whedon’s much-beloved “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” series. But she’s also married to Freddie Prinze Jr., who voices Kanan Jarrus, the Jedi survivor of the “Rebels” series. Perhaps he did a little persuading?
Gellar joins an impressive voice cast that also includes David Oyelowo (from “Selma”), Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar and Taylor Gray.
