Clark County Fire District 3 responded to a 1-acre grass fire Saturday afternoon in Brush Prairie.
The fire on the 15200 block of Northeast Parkinen Road may have been started when a weed eater with a hot muffler was placed in dry grass, according to a news release from District 3. The Clark County Fire Marshal is investigating.
Fire District 3 sent two squads and an engine and had the fire under control in 20 minutes. An abandoned car was consumed by the fire, and a second car sustained minimal damage, according to Fire District 3.
Unseasonably warm weather and blustery winds have dried out tall, dead grasses in the county. The conditions were contributing factors to the fire, according to Fire District 3.
