I fail to understand the need for the Christian community to insist affirmations of trust in God be prominently displayed in places of government dedicated to the secular business and/or legal workings of our American society. Ethical and legal rules and regulations already exist to ensure compliance with the principles of the U.S. Constitution pertinent to governance of this great nation for the benefit of all of its citizens.
I also consider myself a patriot and firm believer in the principles put forth during the building of this great democratic nation. I support the statement of principles of the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution. And I believe that integrity and adherence to those principles, by those in government, is the responsibility of the individual public servant and government oversight, not religious communities, regardless of their creed.
In Clark County, however, it has become necessary for us to be reminded to trust in our individual deities, since it now appears we cannot trust at least two of our county council members to act in the best interest of all.
