A Vancouver man was one of 10 people involved Saturday in a five-vehicle crash in North Portland that critically injured a 7-year-old girl.

At about 3:30 p.m., Portland police officers arrived at the scene of the crash, which occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Victory Boulevard.

Six ambulances also responded to the scene and transported nine injured people to local hospitals, according to a press release from the Portland Police Bureau.

Those suffering the most serious injuries were a 24-year-old woman and Arianna Lundin, 7, of Cathlamet, police said. Arianna’s injuries were described by police as life-threatening.

At the time of the crash, Arianna was traveling in a 2008 Dodge Caliber with four others: Kari Bonds of Longview, no age available, 7-year-old Raenna Larson of Kelso, 2-year-old Jordan Mueller of Cathlamet and 5-year-old Devon Mueller of Cathlamet, according to police.

Leron Richards, 31, of Vancouver also was involved in the crash, police said. He was in a 2008 Dodge Charger.

The three other vehicles in the crash were a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban occupied by Bennet and Kari Rowe of Aberdeen; a 2014 Subaru occupied by Chen Fu of Corvallis, Ore.; and a 2013 Honda Fit occupied by Geraldene Moyle, 44, of Portland, police said.

Details about how the crash happened and the conditions of many of the people injured were not released by police Sunday. Portland police’s Major Crash Team is investigating the incident.

Northbound lanes of the freeway were closed for several hours Saturday, and traffic into Clark County was diverted to Interstate 205 from North Rosa Parks Way.
