Weather Eye: Run of sunny weather likely to come to an end Wednesday

Monday was yet another clear, sunny day in the Pacific Northwest. Once again, we touched the 70 degree mark in many neighborhoods around Clark County. Can we do it again today? We’ll sure try.

But enjoy it while you can because in every life a little rain must fall (we need it). Wednesday will bring showers, nothing heavy but more than we have had since last month. We are running one inch behind in that department for the month of March in Vancouver.

As far as the average mean temperature, the warm, sunny days are being offset by the freezing overnight low temperatures. Only one day’s daily low temperature has been above freezing for most of us. Lots of frost, for sure.

There will be no frost the next few days due to the increased cloudiness. Temperatures will cool, with highs in the upper 50s Wednesday, then rebound back into the 60s as high pressure builds inland on Thursday and Friday.

If you want to pursue indoor activities, Saturday may be the best day for that. We could have a regular rainy day. Remember what that feels like? It may rain all day, with a half inch of rain in the bucket.

Still, no sign of major snow in the mountains — maybe a dusting down to pass levels or above by Sunday after Saturday’s cold front. I see Ski Bowl is opening up their summer fun stuff. Why not? Things are certainly going in that direction.

I think we may be warm and maybe muggy with a southwesterly flow next week. The Climate Prediction Center calls for continued above average temperatures and below average rainfall for the rest of the month.

Enjoy the pleasant weather today and we’ll chat on Thursday and see how much water made it into the rain bucket. We still need to share those February rainfall totals from around the area, too.
