Fire damaged a house in a rural area near Yacolt on Friday.

The blaze was reported about 7 p.m. by a neighbor, who told 911 dispatchers about seeing what appeared to be fire in the distance. The neighbor went to check and found a deck and house on fire at 36603 N.E. Lakeview Drive.

The rural neighborhood is not served by hydrants, so dispatchers at the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency dispatched several water tenders, sending more as the fight against the fire continued.

The first unit on scene reported the multistory house was fully involved in flame. Crews were able to enter the structure to attack the fire for a time, though water supplies were limited.

Firefighters later withdrew from the house and focused their efforts from the outside. Crews had the fire knocked down by about 8:40 p.m. and were moving into mop-up mode.

It was not known Friday evening if anyone had been at home when the fire broke out.

The house was built in 1995 and has two stories, a finished basement and attached garage, according to county property records, which list Thomas and Jane Ippoliti as the property’s owners.
