Weather service issues flood advisory for Oregon, Washington

PORTLAND — The National Weather Service has issued a regional flood advisory after record rainfall in Oregon and Washington.

The flood advisory was set to expire on Sunday afternoon.

The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/LG0Bcf) rainfall records were set in Portland, Hillsboro, McMinnville, Salem, Troutdale and Vancouver on Saturday. All those cities received well over an inch of rain.

Sunday’s flood advisory is for urban and small streams in the surrounding counties.

In urban areas, flooding is also possible in locations with poor drainage.

The Weather Service was expecting more rain and wind on Sunday. Authorities warn drivers not to travel through water covering a roadway. Landslides are also possible.

Portland Fire & Rescue reports a small slide was reported Sunday morning off Northwest Marlborough Avenue in Portland. No one was injured.
