King’s Way Christian gets first baseball win

Damon Casetta-Stubbs went 4 for 5 with a double, two runs and three RBI to lead the King’s Way Christian baseball team to a 15-8 win over Washougal in the Knights’ first game as a varsity program.

Many of the King’s Way players played for other schools last year before the Knights began to build its own program.

Against Washougal, the Knights scored in every inning of the game at Luke Jensen Park.

Thomas Martin went 3 for 4 with four runs, a double and two RBI. Liam Nabors went 2 for 4 and three RBI.

Stars of the day

• Rio Smith, Camas girls golf, took medalist honors in a non-league win over Hockinson by shooting a 37. Teammate Elise Filuk shot a 38.

• Faith Udy, Woodland girls golf, shot a 40 to earn medalist honors in a win over Prairie and Columbia River.

• Paige Forsberg, Washougal softball, went 4 for 4 with two runs and three RBI in a 7-2 win over Mountain View.

• Ellie Walker, Columbia River girls track and field, won the 100 hurdles (16.19), 300 hurdles (52.32) and high jump (4-8) in a meet against Fort.

• Austin Blankenship, Columbia River boys track and field, won the 1,600 (4:41) and 3,200 (10:08) in a meet against Fort Vancouver.
