Several problems snarl morning commute

Traffic beginning to flow again along I-5

Motorists failed to share in the luck of the Irish this St. Patrick’s Day, as a series of problems snarled morning traffic along Interstate 5 into Portland.

The problems included a crash on Interstate 5 southbound near the Morrison Street Bridge exit to downtown Portland, a stalled tractor-trailer rig on the Marquam Brdige, and a stalled car on the southbound approach to the Interstate 5 Bridge in Vancouver.

At one point it was taking motorists an hour to travel from Highway 500 to downtown Portland.

There were no reports of any injuries, but traffic was snarled for more than two hours due to the events and the chain reaction that followed.

Commuters may not have much luck this evening, either. The forecast calls for rain and wet roads by rush hour.
