HILLSBORO, Ore. — A Forest Grove man has been sentenced to 52 years in prison for abusing five young victims, including three girls placed in his care by homeless parents.

The Oregonian reports the girls were 8, 13, and 14 when Steven Rockett was arrested in 2013. A jury convicted him earlier this month of rape, sex abuse and other charges.

His sentencing Tuesday also included charges of using a hidden camera in his bathroom to photograph two boys. He had pleaded guilty to those charges.

Washington County prosecutor Dustin Staten said the 46-year-old is divorced with young children and is a predator who targeted kids from struggling families.

Rockett’s lawyer said an appeal is planned.

Rockett is scheduled for trial in June on federal abuse charges involving children in the Philippines.
