Students testify in Olympia to change driver’s ed rule

Battle Ground — Washington residents aren’t allowed to take driver’s education courses online as part of the licensing process, and recently about 20 River HomeLink students from grades 8-12 went to Olympia to present their proposal to change that. The students sent a proposal last month to various legislators and senators about allowing state-approved online driver’s education courses to be part of the licensing process. Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, and Sen. Jan Angel, R-Port Orchard, invited the students to testify before the before the Washington Senate Committee on Transportation on Feb. 25. The bill, which is sponsored by Benton and Angel, passed on Feb. 27 and will go to the Rules Committee for a second reading.
