Two people were arrested in a heroin bust Wednesday in northeast Hazel Dell.

The Clark-Vancouver Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, served a search warrant at 8917 N.E. 15th Ave. in a heroin trafficking investigation, the drug task force reported.

Law enforcement seized $85,440 in cash and 3.6 pounds of heroin, which has a street value of more than $40,000.

A Vancouver man who lives at the residence, Sergio Alvarez Eligio, 47, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Albert Champagne, a 27-year-old Portland man, faces the same charge.

Drug task force Cmdr. John Horch said that the investigation into the alleged drug trafficking is ongoing.
