Overhead sign work next week will at times prompt lane closures on southbound Interstate 5 and westbound state Highway 500, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The work will reduce southbound I-5 to a single lane between East 39th Street and East Fourth Plain Boulevard during overnight hours. The lane closures will last from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night from Monday until Thursday, according to WSDOT. In addition, all lanes of westbound Highway 500 will close near the work area, forcing traffic to exit at Northeast 15th Avenue.

The closures will allow crews to install a new travel time sign from the East 29th Street overpass above southbound I-5, according to WSDOT.
