A man who is already a suspect in a Vancouver drive-by shooting appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Monday to face charges in a different Clark County shooting.

Shawn D. Crawford, 22, of Portland faces a charge of first-degree attempted murder for allegedly shooting a man out of jealousy at a New Year’s Eve party, according to court documents.

Crawford attended a party in the 7200 block of Northeast 101st Avenue with his girlfriend, according to court documents filed in the case.

When a young man from Portland hugged Crawford’s girlfriend, Crawford became angry and tried to punch the man, according to court documents.

Crawford shot twice at the man and then “emptied his clip” and continued to fire many more gunshots at the victim, who was trying to run to safety, and hit the victim in the thigh and stomach area, according to court documents. Investigators reportedly found a total of 12 spent casings in the roadway.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded to the shooting, reported just after 3:30 a.m. Jan. 1, but the suspect had fled, according to court documents.

The case was investigated by the regional gang unit, the Safe Streets Task Force. While gang detectives were investigating the Jan. 1 incident, Crawford was arrested on suspicion of being involved in a different shooting.

Crawford was arrested on Jan. 30 after police identified him as one of three men who fired at least 12 rounds at a group of people sitting on the porch of a house in the 2300 block of Neals Lane in Vancouver at about 2:45 p.m. the same day, according to court documents filed in the case. One of the bullets struck the knee of a 16-year-old boy.

In that case, the three shooting suspects fled in a green van that was chased by several vehicles. The chase ended at East 33rd Street and St. Johns Boulevard, where a second shooting occurred after the suspects realized they were being followed, court documents state.

Crawford and his brother, Mykease O. Lamb, 16, also from Portland, fled from the van but were later captured by officers, according to court documents.

In that case, Crawford faces charges of three counts of first-degree assault and drive-by shooting.

In court on Monday, Judge Daniel Stahnke increased Crawford’s bail from $300,000 to $600,000. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for April 1.
