BOSTON — A lawyer for the Boston Marathon bomber is aggressively questioning an FBI computer expert about extremist material found on Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s computer.

Tsarnaev’s lawyer cross-examined FBI agent Kevin Swindon on Monday about his testimony last week, attempting to show that much of the activity on Tsarnaev’s computer was on Facebook and other social media sites.

Kevin Swindon testified Thursday that Tsarnaev had Inspire magazine, an al-Qaida publication, and other radical materials on his computer.

Swindon acknowledged Monday that Tsarnaev’s brother, Tamerlan, had encryption software on his computer, but Dzhokhar’s didn’t. Tsarnaev’s lawyers have admitted he participated in the bombings but say Tamerlan was the mastermind.

The 21-year-old Tsarnaev faces the possibility of death for carrying out the deadly 2013 attack. Three people were killed and more than 260 were injured.
