Prep highlights: Mountain View rallies twice to top Heritage in baseball

Kyle Moen got the final hit in a game full of hits and scoring opportunities as Mountain View rallied to top Heritage 7-6 in a Class 4A Greater St. Helens League baseball game Tuesday.

Heritage, looking for its first league win of the year, scored two in the top of the seventh to take a 6-4 lead, but the Thunder rallied for three runs in the bottom of the frame. Moen got the walk-off, bases-loaded single to drive in the winning run.

Mountain View had to rally twice in this game.

Heritage scored a run in the second inning and three more in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. Mountain View got the four back in the bottom of the frame.

Preston Jones had three of Mountain View’s 13 hits. The Thunder improved to 2-1 in the 4A GSHL.

Stars of the day

• Sam Jones, Camas baseball, went 2 for 4 with two doubles and 3 RBI in a 12-6 win over Evergreen.

• Jamie Phares, Prairie softball, went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double in a 13-5 win over Mountain View.

• Brandon Casteel, Washougal baseball, went 3 for 4 with a double, triple and two RBI in a 6-3 win over Castle Rock.

• Bailley Sims, Evergreen softball, went 3 for 4 with a triple and double in a 13-1 win over Fort Vancouver.

• Jace McKinney, Columbia River baseball, went 2 for 2 including a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored in a 12-2 win over Ridgefield.

• Hailey Oster, Camas golf, shot a 4-over 39, the lowest round of any local golfer Tuesday, as Camas beat Woodland at Lewis River Golf Course.
