LAPUSH — Coast Guard helicopter crews were busy with two different rescues in Olympic National Park near La Push on Tuesday.
A 24-year-old woman with a knee injury and mild hypothermia was hoisted from the Goodman Creek area and taken to the Forks airport on Tuesday morning. From there, she was taken by ambulance to the Forks Community Hospital.
In a separate rescue on Tuesday afternoon, a Dolphin helicopter crew reached a 53-year-old man who was stranded on a cliff at Second Beach near La Push.
Officials say they received a call for help after the man was separated from his group of friends. Without a rescue, the man would have been stuck on the cliff until the next low tide in cold temperatures and steady winds.
