Kickoff: 5 p.m. Saturday at BC Place.

Timbers match notes: Portland’s season has started with three draws. Vancouver is 2-1-0 after a stoppage-time goal produced a 1-0 win last week at Orlando City. … The Timbers received an unexpected boost for this match when right back Alvas Powell returned to Portland. Powell was called up by Jamaica’s national tam, but returned to the Timbers when it was determined he would not play for Jamaica in matches against Venezuela on Friday or Cuba on Monday. … On the injury front, coach Caleb Porter said Jack Jewsbury is no longer having concussion symptoms but that Jewsbury likely will miss this match as a precaution. George Fochive, who played in place of Diego Chara in the season opener, is the most likely player to step in for Jewsbury. … Fanendo Adi has both goals on the season for Portland. … Porter said newly acquired winger Ishmael Yartey is expected to arrive next week to provide depth at attacking positions, specifically left wing though Porter said Yartey can play either wing.

Whitecaps match notes: The Whitecaps will be without two suspended players: forward Kekuta Manneh and defender Diego Rodriguez. The absence of Rodriguez might mean a return to the lineup for former Timber Pa Modou Kah. Vancouver midfielder Mauro Rosales (ankle) is out … Forward Octavio Rivero has scored all three goals for Vancouver this season. … The player to watch for Vancouver is Chilean midfielder Pedro Morales (wears No. 77). Last season, the Designated Player was a key cog (10 goals, 12 assists) for the Whitecaps. He has one assist and two shots on goal through three games this season.

Cascadia Cup: The annual Cascadia Cup competition kicks off at a place the Timbers have never lost (3-0-2) in MLS play. This is Portland’s only 2015 visit to Vancouver. The Whitecaps visit Portland twice, while the Timbers host Seattle once and visit the Sounders twice in Cascadia Cup competition.
