NW Natural participates in energy-efficiency financing

The Columbian
Published:

NW Natural is participating in an initiative that will help Washington customers finance energy-efficiency improvements by spreading out upfront costs through monthly payments.

The utility is working with the Energy Trust of Oregon and nonprofit lender Craft3 on the financing program. Under the program, qualifying NW Natural customers can make monthly payments for improvements on their gas bills.

Individual loans are available for up to $15,000 for improvements that qualify for Energy Trust cash incentives. Those include high-efficiency gas equipment such as fireplaces, furnaces and tank water heaters; insulation; windows and air sealing.

The repayment program is being piloted in Washington. Customers can apply at www.energytrust.org/repayment.
