A deer in the road triggered a chain-reaction vehicle collision Monday north of Camas.

The three-car collision was reported to the Washington State Patrol at 8:08 p.m. The incident was on state Highway 500 in the Fern Prairie area between Camas and Orchards.

All three vehicles were headed eastbound when two of them stopped for the deer, and the drivers got out of their vehicles. A 2009 Ram pickup driven by Pavel V. Paliyev, 40, of Camas was unable to stop and struck a 2008 Toyota Sienna minivan driven by Pamela S. Smithline of Camas. The van was pushed into a 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by a 16-year-old Camas boy whose name was not released.

Smithline was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver for evaluation and treatment of injuries.

Neither of the other drivers were reported injured.
