Letter: Voice of reason returning

Jeanne Stewart continues to be the lone voice of reason and common sense on the board of Clark County councilors. I’ve been attending the weekly Tuesday and Wednesday council meetings on a fairly regular basis.

I was at the April 22 board time meeting where Stewart raised the issue of the Regional Disaster Preparedness Organization. It was clear that neither Councilor Dave Madore nor Councilor Tom Mielke had read the material she provided them some time before, and it was clear they didn’t care. It’s important because, as I understood it, if Clark County doesn’t pay its dues and belong to RPDO, we may not get FEMA money when it’s needed and yes, folks, it will be needed when we have the oil train derailments, explosions and fires.

I’ve been a lifelong Democrat. In my opinion, we need four more Jeanne Stewarts of whatever political stripe.
