Three people injured in early morning Vancouver crash

Three people were seriously injured in an early morning single-vehicle crash on MacArthur Boulevard near North Devine Road, police said.

Vancouver police responded to the crash, reported minutes after 3 a.m. Friday, to find two occupants still in the vehicle but one person ejected, according to a press release.

The vehicle, which had been traveling west, apparently hit several trees and rocks in the median and crossed into eastbound lanes before coming to rest on its top in the grass south of the street. Debris laid strewn in the eastbound lanes this morning, with the bumper of the vehicle in the street about 100 feet from the wrecked car.

All three people were taken to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their names and conditions were not immediately available. Police say alcohol and speed appear to be a factor in the crash, but the Vancouver Police Traffic Unit is investigating.

MacArthur Boulevard between Devine and North Blandford Drive was closed for several hours Friday morning, but westbound traffic opened around 9 a.m., Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said. Eastbound traffic remained closed briefly after that as police investigated.
