Vancouver man, boy arrested in burglary, assault case

Both suspects face attempted murder charges

A Vancouver man and a 15-year-old boy face are being held on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly breaking into an east Vancouver home and assaulting a 65-year-old woman on Wednesday.

Vincent R. Burnett, 29, and an unnamed 15-year-old were arrested in connection with an investigation into the crime reported at about 3 a.m. Wednesday in the 3400 block of 138th Avenue, according to Vancouver police.

Both are being held on suspicion of attempted murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree robbery. Burnett is also being held on suspicion of first-degree assault.

The woman was taken to the hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening and has since been released from the hospital, police said.

Police said there are no outstanding suspects in the investigation and did not release any other information on the matter.

Vancouver major crimes detectives were assisted by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Apprehension Team.
