Kara (Patterson) Winger isn’t letting go of her American women’s javelin record anytime soon.

The Skyview High grad landed her second-best javelin throw with a 218-feet, 1-inch effort Saturday at the Longhorn Invitational at Austin, Texas.

She was competing for sponsor Asics and not eligible for the event win.

Her best throw is 218-8, which is the American record she set in 2010 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Her top throw on Saturday was the second of her six throws. It also set the women’s javelin Mike A. Myers Stadium record at the University of Texas.

Winger posted on Twitter: “I’ve never felt affirmation quite like I do today. 66.47m and my best series ever: Every minute of work is #worthit.”
