Rescue divers in Portland have recovered the body of a woman who drove a truck into the Columbia River from Marine Drive on Monday.

The driver was identified as Cynthia Marie Boone, 49. A public records search indicated she had most recently lived in Portland, but previously had lived in Vancouver and Ridgefield.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, investigators are looking into the possibility Boone deliberately drove into the river. She had a history of mental health crises and had previously attempted suicide, according to a news release.

Officers responded on Monday at about 8:30 a.m. to reports that a westbound pickup truck had driven off the roadway into the river in the 7000 block of Northeast Marine Drive.

The roadway was closed for several hours while emergency responders worked.
