Sometimes even the mayor isn’t safe from crime in his own city.

On Monday evening, Washougal Mayor Sean Guard announced on Facebook that someone had stolen his lawn mower right out of the back of his truck when it was parked in downtown.

Guard brought the mower to work planning to help cut some grass in a yard on Main Street.

“Evidently someone was in greater need than I of a newer, bright-red Craftsman push mower,” he said in the post.
